Waterford - Tall Ships Race - 2011

The purpose of this trip was to satisfy a long-held desire to see the tall ships in full sail. A desire which remains unsatisfied. The ships came into and left Waterford Quay, under power, with furled sails and generally remained like that until the race start, which was off Hook Head, a long way out to sea, lost in the haze. We tried to get seats on a boat to follow them out, but were unable to do so. With that wonderful thing - hindsight - we should obviously have booked one a long time before we went. Never mind, I would probably have been sea-sick :-) These images were taken using a Panasonic G3 with 100/300 and 14/42 lenses.
